My Orphanages

When I was 2 years old, I was made a Ward of the State and sent to the Andrew Kerr Memorial Home at Mornington.

I have no memory of the Andrew Kerr Home,  but I have vivid memories of the Ballarat Orphanage located at 200 Victoria Street (bottom three pictures) where I survived from 1943 to 1953.

In World War 2 we inmates could read the 93 names on the Roll of Honour for the old boys serving in World War 1.
